Travelling around Connemara, Lough Corrib and into Galway city we learn how the famine has decimated this area, Alcok & Brown flew Transatlantic and major motion pictures such as The Quiet man were filmed on location here. Our journey then takes us into Galway city.

Free time in Galway allows us to enjoy the many attractions including the famous Shop Street, Medieval City Walls, Salthill Prom and many more. Recommended Private Galway & Connemara Itinerary

Your private-hire luxury Mercedes and knowledgeable, local chauffeur guide will collect you from your chosen Dublin location. You’ll commence your westward journey, factoring in a refreshment stop en route.

The beautiful village of Cong, Co. Mayo will be pour first stop. Famously home to Ashford Castle and the setting of the movie “The Quiet Man” starring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara this timeless classic earned John Ford his first of 6 Academy Awards. Cong is the quintessential Irish village, set on the banks of Lough Corrib and home to the 7th century Cong Abbey.

Enjoy lunch in one of the many locally owned coffee shops as we embark on a tour further west into the heart of the Connemara region. Our next stop is just a short drive to the picturesque ‘Lough Corrib’ – Ireland’s second largest lake. This stunning location offers panoramic views of some of the lakes 350 islands. We will keep an eye out for some of the famous Connemara ponies which are famed in this area.

You’ll continue driving through the Connemara landscape – taking in the mesmerizing and deserted mountainous terrain. Driving through the Maam Valley, amidst the Connemara lakes and Twelve Pins mountain range – our journey towards Galway will take us to Connemara Marble where we can enjoy a demonstration of the many artefacts and gifts they sell world wide.

As we travel towards Galway city we make our journey along the Salthill Prom and breathe in the fresh atlantic sea air. Breathe in the fresh sea air as we watch people brave the chilly waters to take a swim in the worlds oldest swimming club at Blackrock.

Back in your luxury vehicle – a very short drive will take you into the center of Galway – ‘The city of the Tribes’. A bohemian and arty city, Galway is in the running to claim the title of ‘European Capital of Culture 2020′ – a short walk through these enchanting streets and we’re sure you will agree that the title would be well deserved.

Galway is home to some of the country’s finest traditional musicians – many of whom showcase their talents along the city’s winding streets. Highlights to explore in Galway include St. Nicholas’ Cathedral, the bustling Shop Street and the Spanish Arch – or simply sit down to enjoy a pint of the ‘black stuff’ and some world-famous Galway oysters.

With this fantastic day tour coming to an end, its time to make yourself comfortable on your luxury 2.5 hour transfer back to Dublin City.
